Chat Noir Tools is back with this second release by Parisian upstart Occibel, which showcases four uncompromising tracks designed for the dancefloor. On the Generation EP, there is a mix of house, tech and breakbeat inspirations that the label quite boldly claim is ‘part of this generation that frees itself from genres to better appropriate them.’ With that in mind, the hypnotic and bass-driven bounce of “Hold Up” takes the best part of classic UK tech house and modern eastern European influence, while the title track takes in the ravey and retro influence of current Berlin post-minimal sounds, as do the Yorkshire bleep aesthetics on B side cut “Space Mind”.
